Minerva Flash Drive

1. Why do I want to use a Minerva Flash Drive rather than the one I already own or can buy in a store? For two main reasons. First, the Minerva Flash Drive includes an image on the outside that identifies it as a health product, which may be valuable in an emergency. Second, the Minerva Flash Drive comes pre-installed with a special utility that automatically launches a file called “InCaseOfEmergency.html” on all computers that use AutoPlay. This file provides quick access to your Emergency Health Records from the flash drive - particularly helpful in any time-sensitive situation.

2. How many images can the Minerva Flash Drive hold? The number of images the Minerva Flash Drive can store depends on the file size of the images. For example, a 1GB drive can hold approximately 10,000 images that are 100k each. If your image files are larger than 100k, then the number of images the drive could hold will decrease.

3. If I lose my Minerva Flash Drive, and someone finds it, can they access my health records? Anyone can access the contents of your Emergency Health Records that you exported to your Minerva Flash Drive, but not your Personal Health Records - those are password-protected. You can limit the information to be included in your Emergency Health Records if you have these concerns.

4. How do I open my Minerva Flash Drive? You don’t technically need to “open” your Minerva Flash Drive. Once you insert your drive into a USB port, the silver slide of the drive will automatically retract. It is recommended, however, that when you remove the drive, you return the silver slide to its original closed position.

5. What is a USB port? A USB port is a connection point available on many computers and is commonly used for flash drives and to connect printers, scanners, cameras, or external hard drives (peripherals) to a computer. The symbol for a USB port looks like a three-pronged fork.

6. Will the Minerva Flash Drive fit in the USB port of my computer? The USB port on my computer appears to be larger than the flash drive. Yes, the Minerva Flash Drive is compatible with all USB ports. If your computer has a USB port, the Minerva Flash Drive will fit. Be sure you are not confusing your USB port with some other port on your computer - such as the one used for an Ethernet cable. The symbol for a USB port looks like a three-pronged fork.

7. Which way should I insert the Minerva Flash Drive into my computer’s USB port? If your USB port is horizontally positioned, you should insert your Minerva Flash Drive into the port with the Minerva Health Manager logo facing up. If your USB port is vertically positioned, you should insert your flash drive with the Minerva logo facing to the right or left. If the Flash Drive does not insert easily, try flipping it in the opposite direction and then re-insert. If inserted correctly, a light will appear on the flash drive.

8. Can I save other files on my Minerva Flash Drive? Yes, but because one of the primary benefits of the Minerva Flash Drive is quick access to your medical records during an emergency, it is strongly recommended that you don't save any non-health related files that may confuse or delay those responding to an emergency. However, it is possible to save other files on the Minerva Flash Drive in folders other than those used during the import/export process (css, db, help, images, protected).
