USA Triathlon recently announced that it has selected Minerva Health Manager to be its exclusive personal health record manager.
As USA Triathlon’s exclusive and official personal health record manager, Minerva Health Manager will provide athletes with an easy-to-use software allowing them to enter their personal health records on their computer and also store them on a lightweight USA Triathlon wristband flash drive that can be worn during training and racing.

The personal health records stored on the flash drive can be accessed using any computer with a USB port – without the need of the Internet – providing instant access by first responders in an emergency situation, as well as healthcare providers during regular office visits. Personal Health Records on the flash drive can also be secured with password protection.
Minerva Health Manager, known as the most comprehensive personal health record manager software, makes it easy to maintain accurate personal health records that can include emergency contacts, medical alerts, diagnoses, medications, procedures, diagnostic tests and images, trends in vital signs and lab results, living wills, and much more. With Minerva, managing health records can go beyond your own and include other family medical records. You can create separate Minerva Health Records for your spouse or partner, as well as each of your parents, and children – whether adopted or biological.
Do USA Triathlon members really need Minerva Health Manager? Consider that someone visits an emergency room every 4 seconds, and that almost 200,000 people die each year in the U.S. as a result of medical errors, making it the 3rd leading cause of death. Even a well-conditioned athlete can suddenly be in a life-threatening situation due to a serious accident or a pre-existing health condition.
“Unfortunately, you can’t always rely on our country’s healthcare system to have all pertinent health information about you in order to provide an accurate diagnosis or treatment. Anyone who has been in an emergency room likely has memories of all of the paperwork and chaos,” said Dan Schiavello, President of Minerva Health Technologies. “Imagine having all of your personal health records stored on a lightweight wristband or tiny flash drive—as small as a house key.”
Minerva Health ManagerThe same personal health record software that is being used by USA Triathlon athletes is now available to consumers throughout the U.S. and can help them avoid becoming another statistic. The cost of Minerva Health Manager is $50 for the Personal Edition and $75 for the Family Edition, which stores personal health records for the entire family.
In addition to USA Triathlon, Minerva is working with other non-profit organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that are using the software product to help raise funds. Minerva donates a portion of the proceeds from sales made through their respective web sites.
